Introduce your business and tell us what you’ve been up to recently?
We are a commercial stationer and office furniture supplier and we have just opened a retail stationery store in Altrincham.
What makes you different from other similar businesses in the area?
As well as offering the usually stationery items, we also stock a full range of Brother printers. We also provide printed work wear/wedding stationery, pull up banners, arts and crafts, office furniture installations
There are no independent office equipment suppliers in the area and we are in control of our pricing
We are around 30% cheaper than Staples or Rymans.
What flexibility does being an independent business give you over a national chain / business?
We decide what we stock and try to appeal to local businesses. We have the ability to respond quickly to the customers needs. We control the direction of the business.
Living locally as well enables us to put something back i.e. we sponsor Unicorn u12 and Bowdon rugby u18
Looking back, which piece of advice would you give to somebody setting up their own business today?
Go for it! You have to know your target market and keep a tight control of your costs and promote promote. Do as much local networking as possible connect with as many businesses as possible.
What part does Social Media play in your business?
We engaged social media to heighten our profile within the local area to promote the retail store, which in turn has opened our eyes to all the businesses within the local Altrincham area that we could link with, to the benefit of both businesses and to reach a clientèle which we would not normally reach.

Where do you eat / take out in Altrincham/hale?
In Altrincham we like to eat at Essence in Broadheath. It has to be the best place for a curry great atmosthere and good value.
Francs/Cocos as well and House has just been extended into the old deli.
Also the best value has to be early dinner at the Dee Thai – great choice
Which is your favourite pub or bar to drink at in Altrincham?
George and Dragon is probably the best to meet and have a chat.
The Belgium Bar also good
Where is your essential must visit shop in Altrincham?
Holts stationery store of course. Zipyard is great addition to Altrincham definitely worth a visit to find out what they could do for you.
What’s been the most impressive new business you’ve seen open in Altrincham in the past 12 months?
Zipyard
In an ideal world What major improvement would you like to see happen in Altrincham?
All the office space and shops occupied
