Only Facebook dwarfs it for sheer numbers and although it lost it’s way for a while by trying to be too much TikTok it’s still a huge platform to grow your business.
Instagram has at least 1.628 billion users around the world in April 2023 and recent stats for the UK put it at around 28 million (40% of the UK Population)
If you’re looking to use Instagram for business here are some undeniable reasons to get on board

- Instagram has the highest engagement rate compared to other Social Media platforms

POST EVERY DAY ON INSTAGRAM FOR 30 DAYS
Some of the Instagram challenges on this list are easier than others.
For many, this will be the hardest challenge on the list.
For Instagram you need to think of the quality of your visuals (photos / graphics / videos) and the quality of your copywriting.
The reason you should do this challenge is to
- Take yourself out of your comfort zone
- Practicing the art of being a journalist in the visual / written mediums
- Understand what works for your business and your audience in a short period of time
- Be extremely visible
You’ll learn more in 30 days than most people on Instagram will take 6 months to learn
If you think that one post a day seems a lot, did you know that the average number of Instagram main feed posts from businesses is actually 1.77 a day.

ENGAGE WITH PEOPLE ON INSTAGRAM FOR 15-20 MINUTES EVERY DAY
Posting and ghosting
Probably the number 1 reason you’re not getting sales from Instagram.
You can’t expect to

… to not engage with others content

And still reap all the rewards
Your parents didn’t bring you up to expect something for nothing.
Start by commenting on @altrinchamhq latest post after reading this message and then set the 15 minute timer on your phone.
FOLLOW 5 NEW PEOPLE EVERY DAY
I’ve just finished training someone on Instagram.
They were following just 56 accounts and many of those were bars / restaurants they like rather than their ideal clients.
A follow is like a tap on the shoulder of your ideal clients.
The tap can often start a mutual conversation.
You can’t build a business based on zero connections.
Set a low target of just 5 people a day Monday – Friday and in a year, you’ll have 1300 new people that you follow
In marketing we talk about Awareness > Consideration > Sales
How can you possibly get the latter if you’re not even on people’s radar?
30 DAY INSTAGRAM REELS CHALLENGE
All Instagram Reels are is vertical video content.
Don’t think they’re anything else other than that.
You don’t need to dance, point at things or have costume changes.
This challenge is about getting you out there on video and producing video content.
You can then use that raw footage for TikTok or Youtube Shorts.

How many of your Instagram followers do you have a deeper relationship with?

Make it your mission to meet 52 of your Instagram followers and turn that online connection to a real connection.
You can make this easier by attending a local networking event and inviting your connections to it to meet more than one person at the same time.
DM EVERY NEW FOLLOWER CHALLENGE
The only person who sees every piece of content is you.
Someone could follow you and literally see your content no more than once a month, if at all.
And I know this is going to feel super cringy to some and it will be an outright NO!!!
But why not try the DM every new follower challenge.
Not a sales pitch.
Not a 3-paragraph long intro to you.
Just a conversation opener to say hello.
Not everyone will respond, but some will feel closer to you or become clients over time because of that initial conversation.
If there’s one challenge that the British will struggle with it’s this one!
30 DAY INSTAGRAM STORIES CHALLENGE
Instagram Stories are a chance to show a behind the scenes of your business.
It’s less polished than the main feed, which means production of stories are super easy.
On our Instagram Stories we do a mixture of head shot videos, quizzes, polls, pictures and sharing other people’s content.
We find that about 4-5 stories a day for us is our sweet spot, although every business is different, so don’t take that as the golden number.
There are 2 types of people on Instagram
- Those that scroll the feed
- Those that consume stories
For instance, there are people who respond to our stories every day that never ever like or comment on a post.
This 30 Day Instagram Stories Challenge will get you active in front of a new audience.
30 DAY EXPLORE TAB CHALLENGE
When I look at my Instagram explore tab the 1st 4 categories are
- Content Ideas
- Chippy Tea
- London Food
- Fit Food
Now I get all of them apart, from maybe “Chippy Tea”, as it’s the sort of content I interact with on Instagram.
The 30 days explore tab challenge is designed to getting you engaging on popular content on the explore tab
For instance, us engaging on content ideas could expose us to a new audience by giving our insights on some of the correct (or in many cases incorrect) advice given.
Also by looking each day it might inspire you to produce your own unique content.
30 DAY SALES CHALLENGE
What do you think would happen if you did sales-based posts for 30 days in a row?
Win business? Lose followers? Gain followers? Educate people?
The Americans are great at putting themselves out there and selling themselves.
As a British Person I’m pretty terrible at it – just look at my Instagram feed and you’ll see virtually no sales-based posts, but whenever I do a sales based post I always get an enquiry.
For the 30-Day Sales Challenge I want you to structure 30 posts that are all about selling your services and then post them.

Afterwards the kids ask really interesting questions that adults just don’t ask, but it’s the fundamentals of my story

30 DAY CLIENT SHOWCASE CHALLENGE
Imagine if over a month you showcased 30 clients and how you were able to help them.
Think of them as mini case studies shared across social.
Do you think that at the end of 30 days of 30 client success stories you would win more business.
I’m 100% confident you would start to drive enquiries, because people will picture themselves in each of the stories.
If you’re new to business and don’t have 30 client success stories start with whatever you have.
30 DAY PRODUCT SHOWCASE CHALLENGE
This challenge is specifically for product-based businesses.
Pick 30 products that people aren’t aware you sell.
As business owners we all gravitate towards the popular products and shout about them.
Perhaps that’s the reason they’re so popular.
Look at your google analytics to find the least visited product pages and produce content around those products, which highlight their benefits and their USPs.
You could just increase your sales by 20% by doing this.
30 DAY REPURPOSING INSTAGRAM CHALLENGE
An easy one to end on.
I want you to go into your Instagram insights.
Look at your content and the top 30 posts over the past 12 months.
Now I want you to repurpose those top 30 posts into new content.
- Photos into videos
- Videos into graphics
- Slight tweaks of the graphics and captions
People will forget what you posted 3 months, 6 months, 12 months ago and if a piece of content has resonated with people why not post it again with a twist.
Everyone can do this right now.
