An Altrincham Christmas Burglary Story Brings Together The Community

By December 24, 2013June 23rd, 2022No Comments

Christmas and Happy Families are what many are gearing up for over the next few days in Altrincham, so When GMP Altrincham tweeted that a family in Timperley, Altrincham has been burgled on the day before Christmas the community came together and digged deep with gifts for the family’s 10 year old daughter

GMP ALTRINCHAM  TWEETED

“Burglary occurred last night on Mossgrove Road in Timperley, both vehicles taken, mobile phones and children’s christmas presents….

“Entry gained via patio door. In the spirit of Christmas, if anyone has any ‘spare’ presents suitable for a 10 year old girl, please drop…”

“them off at Altrincham police station front desk before 6pm and we will ensure they get to the family. #communityspirit ”

ALTRINCHAM HQ RESPONDED

THE COMMUNITY RESPONSE

At the time of writing this blog the community response has been overwhelming from both a viral element and also how this had translated into actual gift donations at GMP Altrincham when we visited around 4.30pm today to drop off our gifts

To give you an idea of how far the message went

  • Our tweet was retweeted by 24 public users and reached 20,238 users  (add in our 5316 followers and you have 25554 people reached)
  • Our facebook post on www.facebook.com/altrinchamhq was shared by 26 people and reached 1215 people

THIS ALTRINCHAM IS HOW THE COMMUNITY COMES TOGETHER ONLINE TO HELP PEOPLE THEY HAVE NEVER MET AND DON’T KNOW THE NAMES OF – THEY SIMPLY CARE ENOUGH TO SHARE AND DIG DEEP!

THE COMMUNITY IS IMPORTANT – AS THE SAYING GOES – IT’S BETTER TO GIVE THAN RECEIVE

REALLY REALLY PROUD OF HOW ALTRINCHAM REACTED TO THIS!!!
