Social Media Wins
If you had 1 extra hour a week what would you do with it to enhance your businesses social media

In this weeks blog we look at the power of the 1 hour window and those wins that can finish in under 1 hour

These are just a few of the key wins, so feel free to post your own in the comments section below

1. ANALYTICS REPORTING
Twitter Analytics, Pinterest Analytics, LinkedIn Analytics, Facebook Insights, Instagram Insights and Google Analytics

You could spend 10 minutes on each of these and gain relevant insights as to which content is performing best and which the audience have a distinct lack of interest in

And importantly you could make action points of 3 key areas to improve on each platform over the next month

1 hour for improvement across the board is an hour well spent in our books

2. AUDIT YOUR COMPETITORS SOCIAL MEDIA
The truth is you don’t have to obsess about your competitors

Some business owners spend more time looking at their competitors business than they do their own

However an hour once in a while looking across the board at your competitors social media profiles and having that honest conversation with yourself about what they do well and what they do poorly

Leave the ego at the door and if there are things they do better than you – you know it’s time to up your game on your weak spots

3. ABSORB AS MANY BLOGS ON SOCIAL MEDIA AS POSSIBLE
Education Education Education

At the time of writing this blog we have over 330 blogs on our website covering the board on social media and marketing for business

You can access them here https://www.altrinchamhq.co.uk/blog/

You’d get a lot from reading blogs back to back at speed – but we’d advise you take it slowly and read just 5 blogs in an hour whilst writing some action points to implement after reading

4. WRITE A BLOG
Content is king

Scrap that – it’s the king, the queen, the whole Royal Family and the Houses of Parliament

I think you have the point now that content is vitally important for your business and yet blogging is something that many of would admit we need to do more of

Blog titles are something you should be constantly emailing to yourself, so you have a backlog of ideas to write when you get that spare hour in the office

Pluck one title from your list – write, edit, publish and promote

The only blog you’ll ever regret is the one you didn’t write

5. SCHEDULE A WEEKS WORTH OF SOCIAL MEDIA UPDATES
To schedule or not to schedule – that is the question?

There are many schools of thought on this – but we’re in the scheduling clears the window for a lot more real time engagement throughout the week camp

You can still schedule for a week ahead and engage real time for 70-80% of your updates

Load up the Hootsuite and clear the rest of the week to have 121 conversations with your audience

6. ADD TO YOUR PHOTO BANK
You should never have a content drought

You should be topping up your photo banks as often as children top up their penny jars

Look at your content calendar for the next 2 months and assess which photos you will need to promote effectively and get those photos in the bank ASAP, so that when it comes to promo time you have everything you need

If you work on the goal of at least 1 new high quality photo a day you’ll never run out of images

7. CREATE SOME NEW SOCIAL TILES
Tweets with images get twice the level of engagement as tweets without

Across most social networks you’ll find similar stats that highlight the importance of images

Social tiles are what you’ll see us share regularly on social media – text over pictures or quote pictures that highlight key messages we want to get across

There are various tools you can use to create these including Canva, Pablo by Buffer, Wordswag, Typorama and so on

8. ENGAGE
How much engagement do you think you could do in just 1 hour?

If you take light touch engagement (i.e just liking updates) out of the equation, do you think it would be possible to engage with 10 people on each of the platforms you use and post meaningful replies

Why not give it a try and see what you can get back

Chances are just that one hour would bring more reach, profile views, website clicks and importantly engaging on a regular basis builds strong business relationships

9. DECLUTTER YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA PROFILES
Social Media can get incredibly noisy if you don’t regularly prune it

Think of all the people that you follow on social media that you always say you should unfollow

Think of all the spam accounts that clutter up your local town twitter search

Think of all the media outlets that waste your day with clickbait and fake news

Spending a little time with the mute, block, unfollow, hide posts buttons does wonders for how productive your time is on social media

10. PLAY TO YOUR WEAKNESSES
Do you play to your strengths or play to your weaknesses?

9/10 you’ll play to your strengths and in most cases in businesses that’s for the best

If you have a spare hour why not tackle that platform you know you’re weakest on and spend some time learning the intricacies of the platform and facing up to something you really don’t like

An hour actively on it may totally change your perceptions and you’ll walk away at the end with a greater understanding of how to use it
